Funko popped up on my radar several years ago with their “Pop” vinyl collectibles. Over the past couple of years, they have added other styles to their repertoire, and I really love the DC “Primal Age” figures and Thundercats and horror icon “Savage World” collections. While I have seen some negative reviews on these MOTU-style figures, we did purchase some last year and did not have any issues with them. Read the reviews and proceed at your own risk.

Horror Icons “Savage World”
It’s October…that means it’s time to watch horror movies until your eyes bleed!!! The plan is to have a different horror “fun card” every day this month. I don’t have them all made yet, but I have a good start and several other ideas rolling around in the noggin. Hopefully I’ll be able to create them all and post a new card every morning.
I don’t plan to write anything about the posts. This, being the first, is an exception, just for the simple fact of explaining. I love Halloween. It is my absolute favorite holiday, and I don’t even like to limit it to the month of October. I watch horror movies all year, and love reading about monsters and murderers and goblins and ghouls. It’s morbid, I know, but it’s who I am. So I hope you enjoy seeing the horror “fun cards” as much as I enjoy creating them.
One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…
The second of the “Killer Queens” is none other than Freddy Krueger.
Three, four, better lock your door…
ANOES is one of the greatest franchises in history, horror or not.
Five, six, grab your crucifix…
If I had any skills at all, I would have changed the name of these cards from “Gypsy Queen” to “Killer Queen.”
Seven, eight, gotta stay up late…
Whatever you do tonight, don’t…go…to sleep!
Nine, ten, never sleep again…
Day 30 – Your favorite horror film of all time…
Man, it’s difficult for me to pick a favorite anything. Food? I like pizza and hot dogs. Baseball players? I like Griffey and Sabo and Stillwell. TV show? I like “Chuck” and “Smallville.” To make me pick a favorite something is like asking me which eye I want poked out.
In a way, my selection of the original 1984 A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET brings this challenge full-circle, having selected the remake on day 1 as “a horror film no one would expect you to love, but you do.” The original has a lot going for it: one of the most recognizable modern-day monsters, a megastar actor in his pre-megastar days, a legendary writer/director, and a foundation strong enough to carry several sequels and spin-offs.
Day 01 – A horror film that no one would expect you to love, but you do…
That’s right, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (the 2010 remake) is the first film to make the cut. I didn’t even expect to love this one, but Jackie Earle Haley‘s spin on the character of Freddy Krueger and the backstory of the daycare made the movie fresh in my mind. Too bad the remake of Friday The 13th couldn’t do the same for that franchise.
