ABC Family started their 25 Days of Christmas programming tonight with “The Year Without Santa Claus” and “Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.” While some of the selections are questionable at best (what in the world does “The Incredibles” or “Cars” have to do with Xmas?), I’m really looking forward to “A Flintstone Christmas” next Thursday night and the “Holiday Classics Marathon” on Christmas Eve.
Of course, one program that is missing from the schedule is the He-Man/She-Ra “A Christmas Special.” Luckily, I have it on DVD, so I’m not at the mercy of ABC Family programmers. Other movie suggestions, for those nights that ABC Family doesn’t have a Christmas movie playing…
“Gremlins” – Who doesn’t love Gizmo? Seriously. This is one of the best Christmas movies out there, even though it’s not really a Christmas movie…it’s just set at Christmastime. Hopefully the movie isn’t ruined too badly when they remake it.
“Elf” – This may be the greatest Christmas movie ever made. I’m not a huge Will Ferrell fan, but this movie is hilarious…and it’s family-friendly to boot. The only real competition this movie gets in my mind is from…
“A Christmas Story” – A classic that always gets a 24-hour marathon on TBS each year. And the bunny suit is a riot.
“Santa’s Slay” – Definitely not a family-friendly flick, but one of the best Christmas horror comedies out there.
What are some of your “must watch” holiday selections?
