day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year
Shredding The Envelope “I Just Don’t Want To Say Goodbye”
Thinking back to my favorite song from last year is difficult…I can barely remember last week. Dave Reffett is the vocalist and guitarist of Shredding The Envelope and just blows me away on every track…I highly recomment the entire Call of the Flames album (though there is some profanity, so be careful when listening around the kids).
day 29 – your favorite television theme song
Waylon Jennings “Good Ol’ Boys” (from the Dukes of Hazzard)
My favorite TV show of all-time, and my favorite theme song.
day 28 – a song from your childhood
Barnes & Barnes “Fish Heads”
They played this song on the Kids America radio show.
day 27 – a song that you wish you could play
Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine”
I got pretty close on this one, but Slash’s solo can never be replicated. At least not by me.
day 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument
Violent Femmes “Blister in the Sun”
I own two guitars, one electric and one acoustic. I play them for about 2 hours a year. *sigh*
day 25 – a song that makes you laugh
Aaron Wilburn “If My Nose Was Running Money”
day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral
Sixx:A.M. “Life Is Beautiful”
There are three “secular” songs that I want played (can be at my visitation instead of funeral): Skynyrd’s “Freebird” (the full studio version, not the edited track for radio), Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,” and this one. I really need to write that down somewhere…just in case.
day 23 – your favorite cover song/remake
Marilyn Manson “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” (originally by the Eurythmics)
day 22 – a song that you listen to when you’re sad
I try not to be sad. I spent too much time being sad when I was younger. The only time I allow myself to be sad nowadays is when someone passes away. And when you go to a funeral, one of the songs that is usually sung is “Amazing Grace.” And so, I have included it here.
DISCLAIMER: This version is sung by a Primitive Baptist church. I do not in any way, shape, or form endorse Primitive Baptist doctrine. I do practice acapppella singing, and believe that is the only form of music authorized by God for worship today, just as Primitive Baptists do. But much of their doctrine is rooted in the errors of man and not based on Biblical teaching.
