Happy Reds birthday, Ken Henderson!
June 15, 1946
Ken Henderson was a solid player for the Giants, but his big year came on the southside of Chicago. In 1974, Henderson played all 162 games, hitting 20 homers and driving in 95 runs while hitting at a .292 clip. That was good for 4.6 WAR and a 19th place finish in the MVP race—the only year he received consideration for the award. By the time he arrived in Cincinnati, Henderson’s best years were behind him. He played just 74 games for the Reds in 1978 and 1979, and just could not get things going at the plate.
