Happy Reds birthday, Eddie Joost!

June 5, 1916

Eddie Joost made his debut for the Reds in 1936, and was the last surviving member of the 1940 World Championship team until he passed in 2011. Joost became a solid everyday player for the Reds in 1941, but it wasn’t until he joined the Philadelphia Athletics in 1947 that he started getting more recognition for his skills. Twice he was named to the All-Star team, and five times received some consideration in the MVP race while with Philadelphia.
