May 6, 1958

#42 is a famous number in baseball, retired across the league in honor of Jackie Robinson. Several Reds players wore #42 before it was phased out, including Keefe Cato, a 2nd round pick in 1979 out of Fairfield University in Connecticut. He is the only major leaguer to come from Fairfield so far.
