Happy Reds birthday, Eppa Rixey!

May 3, 1891

Hall of Famer Eppa Rixey played 13 years for the Reds, winning 179 of his 266 career victories while wearing a Cincinnati uniform. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1963 by the Veterans Committee, thirty years after his big league career ended. When he was informed that he had received the necessary support, he said, “They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel, aren’t they?”
