Happy Reds birthday, Jake Mooty!

April 13, 1912

Jake Mooty attended Texas A&M before going pro. He debuted with the Reds in September, 1936, and pitched in the big leagues in 1937 as well. The Brooklyn Dodgers purchased Mooty and Jimmy Outlaw from the Reds in 1938, but just five days later the purchase was voided and the players returned to the Reds organization. Cincinnati lost Mooty the next year to the Chicago Cubs as a part of the rule 5 draft.
