Happy Reds birthday, Frank Smith!

April 4, 1928

Frank Smith was used primarily as a reliever during his career; his 1953 Topps card states, “Despite his youth, Frank is the number 1 relief chucker on the Reds’ staff.” In six seasons with Cincinnati, Smith was 32-32 with a 3.86 ERA. He also played one year for the Cardinals, appearing in 28 games for St. Louis in 1955.
