Happy Reds birthday, Jim Kern!

March 15, 1949

Jim Kern was a three-time American League All-Star, and in 1979 he finished 4th place in Cy Young voting. His best years were behind him by the time he landed in Cincinnati in 1982, via a trade with the New York Mets for slugger George Foster. By the end of the season, the Reds sent him back to the American League, receiving two players to be named later (Wade Rowdon and Leo Garcia) from the White Sox.
