March 2, 1965

Ron Gant was one of the big rookies in 1988. He played primarily second base for the Atlanta Braves in his rookie campaign before converting to the outfield full-time in 1990. Other rookies of note that year were Mark Grace of the Cubs, Roberto Alomar of the Padres, Craig Biggio of the Astros, and Rookie of the Year Chris Sabo of the Reds. Gant spent one year with Cincinnati in 1995, was named to his second All-Star team and helpd the Reds reach the NLCS, where they lost to Gant’s former team, the Atlanta Braves.
