Happy Reds birthday, Bill Scherrer!

January 20, 1958

Bill Scherrer did a lot of traveling as a major league pitcher, and he didn’t stop traveling after hanging up his uniform. Scherrer is now employed by the White Sox as a scout. He had two stints as a pitcher for the Reds, from 1982 through 1984 and again in 1987. Near the end of the 1984 season, he was traded to Detroit, where he earned a championship ring. He also pitched for the Orioles and Pirates before his major league career came to an end.
