Not-so-fun Card Submission: 1959 Topps “Baseball Chills” Aroldis Chapman

1959 Topps Chapman Baseball Thrills

Reds nation held its collective breath yesterday after a Salvador Perez line drive knocked Aroldis Chapman to the ground and the Cuban Missile was carted off the field with his head immobilized. There is a video of the potentially tragic incident here. Surgery was scheduled for today to repair a broken bone above his left eye, but there is no report of any other serious injuries from the play and he is expected to make a full physical recovery. We have to hope that there will be no mental issues and that Chapman can return to his All-Star form.

The card above was provided by TWJ contributor Patrick, modeled after the 1959 Topps “Baseball Thrills” subset.
