The Melty Misfits by Buff Monster, produced by SideKick

The Melty Misfits trading card stickers

At first glance, I thought this was a new series of Garbage Pail Kids. And I suppose that’s the point. The Melty Misfits are a series of ice cream-themed trading cards/stickers created as an homage to GPK. The artist is Buff Monster, based in Hollywood, and it is clear that he has a respect for the style of GPK artist John Pound. There are sixty cards in The Melty Misfits set, thirty different paintings with two name variations for each. For example, “Eruptin’ Justin” (above) can also be found with the nameplate “Nuclear Norman.”

SideKickThe cards were produced by SideKick, and according to The Melty Misfits website, they “are offset printed using custom-mixed inks on custom-made sticker stock, kiss-cut and packaged in a vintage-style wax wrapper.” The cardstock (or sticker stock, if you will) is reminiscient of the material used for the vintage GPK issues.
