Fun Cards: 1986 Topps Traded Barry Larkin

Kurt Stillwell wore #11 for the Reds in 1986 and 1987; Barry Larkin donned #15 until 1988, when Stillwell was traded to Kansas City for Danny Jackson. Lark appeared in 41 games for the Redlegs in 1986, starting in 36, but that wasn’t enough for Topps to include him in their year-end Traded set. He even played three games at second base, the only time in his MLB career he took a defensive position other than shortstop.

  1. This picture is far superior to Topps’s photography from that set 🙂

    • It was difficult enough finding a photo of him wearing #15! But yes, if I had found a “mugshot” it would have fit in better with the photography of the set.

  2. Not sure who the catcher is (Jody Davis?), but at least there is a bit of a glimpse of Marla Collins in the background. Oh the good old days. Is that #12 Esasky or #13 Concepcion back there, too?

  3. Really cool card, i wish this card would have been in the real Topps updated set. Please keep up the great FUN cards.
