2010 Reds (’72 Style): Ramon Hernandez

I love action shots of catchers in their gear. Yeah, this shows the runner sliding safely into home while Ramon waits for the ball, but it’s still an action shot of a catcher in his gear.

Ramon has worn #55 his entire major league career, with the exception of part of 2008 with the Orioles. Who made him change his number? I clicked through every name on the baseball-reference page for the 2008 Baltimore Orioles and found no other players sporting #55 that season, so it must have been a coach or manager. Any Orioles team historians care to chime in on this?
