Zombie Awareness Month: Day 17 – Scooby Doo, Where Are You?

Who says Zombie Awareness Month doesn’t bring the not-yet-undead closer together? My new friend over at Anguished Repose, with whom I began conversing for no other reason than to discuss zombies, posted the above clip earlier this month.

The clip features scenes from the full-length movie, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, which I think we have on VHS, but I’m too lazy to go check. The song is “It’s Terror Time Again” by Skycycle.

Can you imagine your life without Scooby-Doo? I can’t. Since 1969, there have been 11 distinct Scooby-Doo cartoon series, not to mention all the television specials and direct-to-video movies (such as Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island). My personal favorite of all the series was The New Scooby-Doo Movies, which featured guest stars such as Batman and Robin and the Harlem Globetrotters. I was also a fan of some other Hanna-Barbara dogs, especially Dynomutt. But I digress. Back to Scooby…

I did a quick Google search on “zombies in Scooby-Doo” and didn’t come up with anything useful, but I think it would be interesting to see how many times zombies were utilized in the series. Does anyone know of such a study?
