Remember when 1000-card print runs were miniscule?

Back in 1988, the Star Co. issued a special 12-card set of Eric Davis, the Cincinnati Reds’ young superstar on a sure course to the Hall of Fame. Of course, injuries put up too many roadblocks on that course, and Davis never made it to Cooperstown. But that doesn’t make this set any less special to me. Eric Davis will always be one of my favorites.

  1. Little did they know that they were ahead of their time. The limited print run rules the card industry now.
