Trying for a few ‘graphs…
A few weeks ago my son sent away for Mike Harkey’s autograph, care of the Yankees’ spring training address. Harkey is the Yanks’ current bullpen coach and pitched for the Cubs back in the early 1990s. Last week, my son decided he wanted to try for Josh Hamilton’s autograph too, so we sent a couple of cards to the Rangers’ camp, and I encouraged him to write to Corey Patterson also, who had just signed with the Reds. We haven’t received any of them back yet, but I decided to get into the game too. I just finished writing to Shawon Dunston, one of my favorite players, who is an instructor with the Giants; and to Mario Soto, former Reds pitcher who is in camp with them as an instructor this year. I was a big Soto fan growing up and just found out that there are only about 100 cards for Soto…maybe I’ll try to collect them all.
If you want to try to get some ‘graphs during spring training, you better hurry up. Teams are getting ready to break camp soon and the season is less than two weeks away! Here is a list of the 2008 addresses, from one of the best autograph websites on the web, Mark’s Signing Bonus!
