Photoset: St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets (June 17, 2014 @ Busch Stadium, St. Louis MO)

St Louis Arch

The family and I took a day trip to St. Louis to visit the famous Gateway Arch and attend a Cardinals ballgame. This was my first time in St. Louis, and I had a great time. I have now seen twelve different major league teams in their home stadiums, and fifteen different MLB stadiums, over the years.

Our day started at the Gateway Arch, and of course we went to the top so we could see the city, including a view of Busch Stadium from way above.

After the Arch, we walked back to the Busch area and decided to take a walk through the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum.

A number of plaques can be viewed outside the museum, from Stan Musial to Ozzie Smith to Bob Gibson. The Cardinals HOF is brand new, so the class of 2014 is rather large. As a Bob Gibson fan, I snapped a picture of his plaque and his jersey, which was on display inside next to the 1967 World Series trophy.

The Cards also have a number of statues outside Busch Stadium on the sidewalk.

Busch Stadium is a very nice ballpark, as all the retro-style parks are. I was able to take a picture of the Gateway Arch from inside the stadium, stretching over the scoreboard.

Lou Brock was on hand to celebrate his 75th birthday, and threw out the first pitch. During the seventh inning, everyone in the crowd sang “Happy Birthday.” That was pretty cool.

Finally, it was game time…

Between my eleven-year old son and I, we took several hundred photographs. Due to lighting and seat position, not very many turned out as well as I had hoped. Here are a few of the better shots of Michael Wacha, Yadier Molina, Peter Bourjos, Matt Holliday, Daisuke Matsuzaka, and Pat Neshek.

And of course a couple of shots of Fredbird!

  1. Went to the new Busch stadium a couple of years ago. It really is a beautiful stadium. I love the brick with the iron. You’ve got some really good shots up there.
