Before there was Larkin, before there was even Ozzie Smith, there was Dave Concepcion. Davey was kept out of the Hall of Fame by the BBWAA voters, never receiving more than 16.9% of the vote. He got only 88 votes in his final year of eligibility, so it’s off to the Veteran’s Committee. Hopefully they will recognize the importance of his contributions to the game more than the writers and let him in Cooperstown where he belongs.
