2009 Topps Barry Larkin

Will A-Rod’s admission to cheating help Barry Larkin with Hall of Fame voters? I sure hope so. Larkin was overshadowed by Ozzie Smith early in his career, and then A-Rod later in his career, but the dude could play. He was one of the best all-around shortstops in the majors, winning the 1995 NL MVP and three Gold Gloves (after Ozzie went away). Baseball-reference.com lists his HOF Monitor at 118 (with 100 being a likely HOFer’s score), so he has the stats. But the question is, will he have the votes?

  1. I’d vote him in. Tremendously underrated player who did just about everything well. Kind of like Biggio in that respect.

Nice card too! Glad to see more fun cards.
