What I did on my first day of vacation…

Took my wife for a test at the hospital.
Got home in time to find out both the Reds and Cubs games were being delayed by inclement weather.
Saw the first pitch of the Tigers-Royals game, and watched for a while, all the time waiting for news on the Reds and Cubs games.
Flipped between FSN-Ohio (Reds) and [...]

Happy opening day!

I hope you are enjoying some good baseball games. Currently the Reds are losing to the D-backs, and the Cubs and Brewers were scoreless last time I checked. A few games got rained out, but for the most part it’s a great day for baseball!
The postman was nice to us today as well. My son [...]

Everyone loves free!

Yeah, the free baseball cards are sweet. Added bonus for having Griffey in the set, even though he’s been injured and hasn’t put up monster numbers the past few years. But he’s still my favorite active player, so having him in the set is a good thing in my mind.

A little disappointed that there are [...]

Do you ever buy cards at K-Mart?

I worked at K-Mart when I was in high school and college. Three different stores, in fact. Wait, make that four. I also worked there part-time after graduating from college, to supplement my other (low) income. Anyway, I didn’t want to go to Wal-Mart tonight. I didn’t feel like driving all the way to Target. [...]

National Baseball Card Day

Don’t forget to get your free baseball cards today!

Houston Astros: How much does your team care about fans?

Only the fifth team to pony up some stickers, the Astros get some points for following directions. Okay, so they don’t really get more points for that, but they do get points for the stickers at least. I’m probably in the minority here, but I miss the old Astros uniform and logo. I liked the [...]

Texas Rangers: How much does your team care about fans?

This is starting to make me sick. Teams that don’t even include a sticker when one is specifically requested are just ridiculous. Sure, occasionally you will run across a team that has run out momentarily. But seven out of twelve teams? That’s pushing it. You better believe some of these teams are going to be [...]

I was going to post a poll question…

But WordPress hates me. Seriously, I can’t get hardly anything to work on this blog. So instead of a fancy poll with clickable selections and a “Vote” button, I’ll just let you answer in the comments section…
What is the worst “innovation” in baseball?
    -> Designated Hitters
    -> Free Agency
    -> Interleague Play
    -> All-Star Winner [...]

I’ve been dancin’ with Dr. Pepper…

How much does Dr. Pepper love Guns ‘N’ Roses? How much does Axl Rose love Dr. Pepper fans? Those are the questions on everyone’s mind as the soda has announced its intention to give everyone in America (with the exception of Slash and Buckethead) a free can of Dr. Pepper if Chinese Democracy is released [...]

National Baseball Card Day: March 29

I’m not making this up. Evidently, on Saturday you can log in to mlb.com/cards (or go to Toys’R’Us or a participating hobby shop) and receive a free pack of baseball cards containing 5 base cards from each Topps and Upper Deck, and 1 chase card from each as well, in addition to an “informational card.” [...]

Max, Jose, and A-Rod

Don’t call Jose Canseco a liar yet. Don’t assume Alex Rodriguez is the golden boy everyone is claiming him to be. At the same time, don’t count on “Max” being a real person.
For all the craziness that has been baseball over the past few years, Canseco has yet to be proven wrong. He has been [...]
