I have dreamed of writing professionally for a long time. My first “success” as a writer came in fourth grade, when I wrote a story about a Native American boy named “Little Ferret,” nicknamed “Zucchini.” I received an “A” for my efforts. In eighth grade, I took that same story and with a little editing, received another “A.” Zucchini treated me well even in high school when I received a third “A” for essentially the same story in eleventh grade.
Eleventh grade is when I took my first creative writing course. I composed several pieces that year that I was proud of and that have stayed with me in my mind. I also began writing poetry, although most of that output is rather useless to me now. It was your basic high school puppy love gibberish that means nothing to anyone but the author, and since I am no longer that person that wrote it, those poems mean nothing to me either.
One of the ideas that I thought up in the eleventh grade was a story about vampires, but I never got around to putting it on paper until this year, nearly 15 years after first thinking of it. I began writing my current piece around April, and here I am nearly at the end of the year and I have 58 pages to show for it. Not very impressive if you ask me. It has been at least a month since I worked on it, and just can’t seem to find the motivation to sit down and work on it. I have grand plans, but have gotten to a point of apathy that I can’t seem to overcome. I have tried reading other vampire novels, watching vampire movies, researching vampires both on the Internet and in print, and reading articles on how to motivate yourself, but nothing seems to work.
And so, I decided to make a blog. What will I use this webspace for? Honestly, I have no idea. Perhaps to keep track of my progress, to report exciting happenings in my writing journey, or to moan and groan about my growing apathy. Only time will tell. It will be a free-for-all, or perhaps a free-fall, about my so far non-existent writing career.
Use it as you see fit. Feel free to comment, to offer pearls of wisdom, to try and spur me on to completing my vampire novel and move on to other projects that I have floating around in my head.
Thanks for reading.

The other projects you have floating in your head– they are always a good idea. Sometimes you just need a break from the “big story”. At any rate, good luck with writing and pressing forward.
I would love to go on a creative tangent, but my problem is always coming back to what I started originally. If I started another novel at this point, I would have two not-even-close-to-finished novels six months from now. Thanks for the well wishes, and feel free to stop by and try to kick my butt into gear anytime.
